Mobile gaming has become a huge global industry, and the most profitable time for such games is in the East. The most important factor in determining whether or not a mobile game can succeed in an Eastern country is if it has been localized into local languages.

The Rise of Mobile Gaming in Vietnam
As early as 2007, Vietnam had become one of the largest markets for online gaming with over 2 million gamers logging on daily. It was also reported that those gamers spent about $2.2 billion on online gaming that year.
By 2010, that number had grown to 4 million daily users spending $3 billion annually - and by 2014, those numbers were estimated to be as high as 9 million and $5.6 billion respectively.
In 2020, Vietnam ranks 2nd in Southeast Asia in mobile game experience, only behind Singapore in Southeast Asia.
It's time to take gaming to the next level
As we mentioned earlier, the market exploded around 2010, and ever since then there have been a plethora of companies working on it. However, it seems that when it comes to localizing games into Vietnamese, the approach has been pretty much the same for years.
The very first thing that needs to be done in order to properly localize a game into Vietnamese is research. Without doing any research, nothing good will ever come out of it. We all know that without proper market research (or even 15 minutes worth of study) no serious business would ever decide on anything in particular - yet this happens in the gaming world often. It's unbelievable.
The second thing is to use a professional translation service instead of relying on your "native speaker" friends who happen to be studying abroad, or that random person you know from Facebook who just happens to have a Vietnamese account. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...
